If we had eyes in the back of the head,

we would stretch our backs much more, I am sure. But as it is,  we usually become aware of the back only when something starts hurting  or we find our shoulders dangerously close to the ears… as is this case with this poor turtle:There are many ways you can stretch your back , shoulders, neck, and here is one simple seated twist that you can do right now.

  1. start from lifted spine
  2. inhale and twist on exhale
  3.  use your hands to deepen the twist

Notice the block between the knees? It is optional, you can use any thick, not too heavy book.

I would stay for 4-5 breaths on each side checking the shoulders (low), pressing the block/book and observing from which point is your body talking to you. Repeat both sides, and then if you want to be really nice to your body, once more on a more “talkative”side.

You may wonder what happened to the poor stressed turtle? Well she decided to do some swimming:

A wise choice!
